QUAKERS IN NORTH AND WEST CUMBRIA
North Cumbria Area Meeting Cumberland General Meeting
Our life is love, and peace, and tenderness; and bearing one with another, and forgiving one another, and not laying accusations one against another; but praying one for another, and helping one another up with a tender hand.
Isaac Penington, 1667
There is a Quaker Meeting in Wigton at which visitors are always welcome. The Meeting House is situated in West Street, Wigton, close to the centre of the town. Wigton is a small market town lying between Carlisle and the northern edge of the Lake District National Park.
Meeting for Worship takes place every Sunday at 10.45 a.m. and all are welcome, not only members but anyone who wishes to enjoy the quiet of a Quaker Meeting. Enquirers are no less welcome; their questions will be answered but there will be no pressure to take the connection further.
Meeting for Worship: Sunday 10.45 - 11.45 am followed by tea/coffee. Children's Meeting: There is no children's class but children are very welcome. |
